The Virginia Chapter was well represented at Surfrider Foundation's annual Coastal and Ocean Recreation Hill Day on Capitol Hill on February 27th. Executive Committee members Aimee Rhodes and Addie Abcede represented the Virginia Beach area, and they met up with DC Chapter area folks from Northern Virginia and from the George Washington University Surfrider Club. Of course they brought along the custom made surfboard signed by coastal recreation enthusiasts from Virginia's coast.
Overall, 150 volunteers and staff from all over the country came to DC and met with 145 Representatives and Senators. They heard our message loud and clear about stopping offshore oil drilling, clean water, and preventing plastic pollution.
