No Sh*t Washington!

VICTORY! Washington will soon have a way for the public to know if there has been a sewage spill or overflow in their area.

The current requirements for wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) to report any spills or overflows make it difficult for the public to know if it's safe to swim. This bill will require all WWTPs to contribute to a streamlined platform for reporting spills that is accessible to the general public so that we can make informed decisions on when to recreate safely in Washington waters.

While this bill got trimmed down due to budget constraints, it lays the groundwork for a real-time notification system for Washingtonians to know when it's unsafe to swim.
